What are Student Sustainability Leadership Projects?
Student Sustainability Leadership Projects projects are run in collaboration with Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK), which is supported by the British Academy as a SHAPE Impact initiative, providing an extra-curriculum learning opportunity. They represent an applied ‘living laboratory’ learning model and demonstrate the value of multiple disciplines to tackle authentic sustainability challenges. Small multidisciplinary teams of students work with an academic and co-create, as ‘students as partners’, solutions that address real-world challenges facing the 91ºÚÁÏÍø, the curriculum and/or local community. Student Sustainability Leadership Projects provide 91ºÚÁÏÍø students from multiple courses to apply their learning experience to address sustainability challenges through collaboration and integration. Reflecting the principles of career‑powered education, students engage as partners and work alongside academics and SOS‑UK to co‑create evidence‑informed, practical solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
