STEM leader Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE inspires future innovators at 91ºÚÁÏÍø public lecture

Entrepreneur and STEM/STEAM advocate, Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE, was the special guest at the 91ºÚÁÏ꿉۪s latest ‘Powered by Experience’ public lecture, sharing her career journey and offering insights into the future of technology, innovation, and inclusive leadership.
Dr Imafidon was quizzed by a panel made up of Biomedical Science student Ninni Bugge, Forensic Criminology student Ghail Estillore, and Pharmacology student Courtney Marks, alongside Dr Alison Tresidder, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health, Community and Life Sciences. The panel guided Dr Imafidon through key milestones in her career and chaired a Q&A session featuring questions from both the audience in the room and those watching online.
Held at the 91ºÚÁÏ꿉۪s Luton campus and livestreamed online, the event saw Dr Imafidon speak candidly about her journey into the tech industry, from being a child prodigy with a passion for mathematics to becoming a leading voice in the UK’s STEM and STEAM landscape.
Throughout the evening, she shared reflections on founding Stemettes – a social enterprise with the mission to inspire and support young women and non-binary people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. She also offered practical advice for students and aspiring professionals, encouraging them to embrace curiosity, build confidence, and seek out opportunities.
The discussion also touched on the rapid evolution of technologies such as artificial intelligence and their growing influence on the future of work. Dr Imafidon reflected on the opportunities these developments present, while also highlighting the importance of ensuring the tech sector remains inclusive and representative as it continues to evolve.
