Mohammad Omar Faruk
Lecturer in Strategic Management
Mohammad Faruk is dedicated to the study and practice of Human Resource Management, talent management, and people development, with a strong commitment to advancing ethical, inclusive, and evidence-based people practices. His work focuses on connecting academic research with real-world organisational challenges to support better outcomes for both institutions and employees. Across academia and professional practice, he is driven by a commitment to developing future talent and strengthening the impact of HRM in evolving organisational contexts.
He has extensive experience in UK higher education, including teaching, curriculum development, course leadership, and unit coordination, and is an experienced HR and Talent Management professional with over 15 years of consultancy experience across private, public, and voluntary sector organisations. His expertise spans Strategic Human Resource Management, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), talent management, Global HRM, people analytics, digital HRM, and employment law compliance. He brings a values-led and practice-informed perspective to teaching, research, and professional engagement.
He teaches across lectures, seminars, and workshops for diverse student cohorts and class sizes. He also supervises postgraduate students and supports applied learning through live projects that strengthen the link between academic study and organisational practice. He is also a PhD candidate in Human Resource Management, and his teaching is informed by current research, applied methods, and contemporary organisational practice.
His academic and professional interests include strategic talent management, inclusive people development, HRM research methodologies, and the relationship between HRM, ethics, and wider societal issues. He is particularly interested in how organisations design and govern people practices that are both strategically effective and socially responsible.
Committed to bridging academia and practice, Mohammad Faruk contributes to talent development through teaching, consultancy, and collaborative initiatives. At the 91ºÚÁÏÍø, he contributes to the Talent Hub, an initiative focused on identifying and developing future talent through applied programmes and partnerships. He also contributes to public discourse through opinion writing on HR practice, talent management, human rights, and emerging societal issues.
Mohammad Faruk is currently accepting PhD students in Human Resource Management, particularly those interested in theoretically informed and empirically rigorous research in HRM across public, private, and voluntary sector organisations; contextual talent management; the impact of artificial intelligence on HRM practices; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in HRM; and the use of people analytics to inform HR strategy.
Through his teaching, research, and professional practice, he aims to support the development of the next generation of HR leaders who are ethically grounded, analytically capable, and prepared to lead in complex organisational environments.
